Heels and Faces is a new body of work that dives into the world of professional wrestling. Through Heels and Faces, I reveal that wrestling, itself, is a form of drag. I transform myself into eight distinct wrestlers for the fictitious league Trans Atlantic Wrestling(TAW), using common drag techniques to transform my face and body with heavy makeup contouring and styled hairpieces. In Heels and Faces, common wrestling gimmicks are flipped and reversed: effeminate, queer coded wrestlers are babyfaces and championship belt holders, and hypermasculine macho wrestlers are booed as heels, critiquing the use of homophobia to build heat in professional wrestling. By connecting professional wrestling and the queer artform of drag, Heels and Faces reveals both as gendered spectacles that radically reimagine identity and reimagines wrestling for a broader audience.
